Lately, I'd come to think of the artwork i used to make - artwork that was pretty...of landscapes and people and anything else i'd drawn or painted from a photo or life - boring. Insignificant. Meaningless.
I wanted to make art that SAID something. That expressed my views. My ideas. My imaginings. I thought that that would mean it had meaning.
I've realised it doesn't work that way. It lost its spirit. Its spontaneity. And that makes me sad.
It probably comes from not ever having liked my style of illustrating. I can never draw what I imagine. It's like i can't see it clearly enough to be able to reproduce it on paper.
I realised though, that it's much more important that i make visually appealing art. Art that is beautiful. Art that is emotive. Art that has a mood!
And so, I'm going to try something new. I'm going to make beautiful paintings of simple things, and add captions to give them more meaning. I can manage words xD.
Just wanted to share that brainwave
